Hello everyone, >Sun Feb 22 , 1998 -- The US State Department yesterday issued a warning to >American citizens to leave Iraq and surrounding countries as quickly as >possible. The State Department added that "non-essential" personnel >employed in US diplomatic facilities are urged to take vacations and leave the >Iraq/Kuwait area until the current crisis subsides. In addition, US officials have >called upon all citizens to use caution and avoid traveling to Kuwait and Israel, >including Judea, Samaria ("West Bank") and Gaza. As I was reading this I remembered something I just read on the net. We are supposed to be Ambassadors for the Kingdom of God. From Collier's Encyclopedia: Ambassador...is supposed to represent, in theory, the person of his sovereign...conduct[s] foreign relations...with other nations. From Universal Standard Encyclopedia: Formerly the term "ambassador" was applied to all accredited diplomatic agents, and it is sometimes still employed, interchangeably with "minister," as a general term to describe such agents of whatever rank. From Webster's: ambassador: 1. an official envoy; esp.: a diplomatic agent of the highest rank accredited to a foreign government or sovereign as the resident representative of his own government or sovereign or appointed for a special and often temporary diplomatic assignment. 2a. an authorized representative or messenger 2b. an unofficial representative Before any war or period of crisis, what does the government do? It calls its Ambassadors home. I guess we're all hoping to be getting that call very soon. Bye, Moza
