Monarchs and kings would hold banquets and give of their clothes to those who didn't have any appropriate apparel. It was a mark of distinction to wear the clothes of the king--from his own wardrobe. There are many examples of this view of clothing in scripture. So, if you're at the wedding feast, you'll have your garment provided from the Lord's wardrobe as we have nothing suitable.
