Hello everyone, The identification of Petra and/or Bozrah as possible escape sites has bothered me for a couple of reasons. First, if I were a Jew in Israel and wanted to flee somewhere I don't think I'd be heading towards an Arab/Muslim country and to places that were dedicated to foreign gods over a hundred miles away. Both Moab (Lot's old territory) and Edom (Esau's turf) were not friendly to the Jews then and they're not now. Jordan wouldn't even take in the supposed "refugees" but herded them all into little areas to play on the sympathies of the world, so why would they let the Jews onto their property? I think a better scenario would have the Jews going north to the area where Elijah had his triumphs (Mount Carmel, around Plains of Esdraelon). If Elijah is with them or someone with his spirit has just been around them I think he'd be pointing them to where he was taken care of by ravens and where the widow fed him without her pot going dry [although I believe this is way too far north--but what do I know :)]. Also, Mount Tabor is usually where tradition points to where the Transfiguration occurred and also somewhere up there is where Jesus was tempted by Satan. This, to me, seems to make more sense. It's also around where Mount Megiddo is and if people are coming around to kill the Jews, don't you think they'd go to where they are? Satan knows who to chase. Just a few thoughts, Moza P.S. Lots of Jews during the last crisis fled to Eilat which is near the Red Sea and many more have already bought their plane tickets for that destination in case anything happens again.
